I gave a videolecture to the XV International Scientific Online Conference, "New Media - Interactivity - Creativity - Education" organized by Prof. Dr. Hab. Dorota Siemieniecka, Vice Dean for Research and International Cooperation Faculty of Education, Nicolaus Copernicus University. My talk was about the challenges of teaching material on facilitated communication online, when such material is often manipulated in a way that does not acknowledge the role of the facilitator in producing the messages. I framed this topic more broadly to include the challenges associated with identifying and critically assessing online quackery. I also gave examples of the literature reviews students in my class have conducted, and the ways in which being better informed about the topic allows us to focus on the key issue of authorship. I then showed screenshots that demonstrated the ways in which facilitators exercise control.
I was the foreign guest speaker at this seminar. I gave two Keynote talks: one on "Disability Hate Speech and Hate Crimes" and one on "Sex Trafficking of Disabled Women." The Seminar was organized by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Beata Borowska-Beszta of Nicholas Copernicus University.
